To reduce excess waste, ceramic designer Madara created a simple but beautiful way to reuse and recycle broken porcelain pieces.

Creation of a new technique

Madara experimented with a variety of materials for her master's thesis at the Art Academy of Latvia. The process was long and complicated as there was no example to follow regarding recycling porcelain. All the hard work resulted in creating new recycled composite material and the stunning zero-waste jewelry collection Astilla.

As Madara says: “To resolve the excess waste problem, everyone must take responsibility and get involved in working on this issue.”

The unpredictable nature of the materials used in this collection makes each porcelain jewelry piece unique.
